What is BioThane®?
BioThane® is a high-quality, synthetic material made from a strong webbing coated with a waterproof, durable polymer. It has the look and flexibility of leather but is much easier to maintain and lasts longer in all weather conditions.

Care & Maintenance
How do I clean my BioThane® tack?
Simply wipe it down with a damp cloth after use. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and warm water, then rinse and air dry. Avoid using harsh chemicals, bleach, or alcohol-based cleaners, as they may weaken the material.
Will BioThane® fade in the sun?
Bright colors (such as neon pink, purple, and orange) can fade over time with prolonged exposure to strong sunlight, especially in New Zealand’s high UV conditions. To minimize fading:
☀️ Store tack in a shaded area when not in use
☀️ Use a UV protectant spray
☀️ Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight for extended periods
Durability & Performance
Is BioThane® as strong as leather?
Yes! BioThane® is incredibly strong and has a high break strength, often exceeding that of leather. It is resistant to stretching, cracking, and wear, making it ideal for everyday and competition use.
Is BioThane® safe for my horse?
Absolutely! BioThane® is non-toxic, does not absorb bacteria, and is gentle on your horse’s skin. It’s a great choice for horses with sensitive skin or allergies.
Can BioThane® be used in all weather conditions?
Yes! BioThane® is waterproof, mud-proof, and UV-resistant. It won’t absorb moisture or become brittle in extreme temperatures, making it perfect for all seasons.

Can BioThane® be repaired if damaged?
While BioThane® is incredibly durable, accidents can happen. Minor wear or loose hardware can often be repaired. If you need a repair, reach out to us, and we’ll see what we can do!
