Blog Post Sunday 🇳🇿 Let’s open the topic up about BioThane®️.
Biothane®️ gets misrepresented a lot. Even by synthetic tack users that have been fans of synthetic tack for years - In the past, I myself was one of them, as I’m sure a lot of you guys were too. There are many imported brands out there that manufacture synthetic tack, some manufacture it well, some very very cheaply- yet, it all gets lumped together as BioThane. Whilst this is a common misconception, all synthetic tack is in fact NOT BioThane®️. Whilst BioThane®️ is Synthetic, not all Synthetic tack is BioThane.
Synthetic tack, plastic tack, PVC tack, comes in many different forms. Whilst, yes, it is all coated with some form of TPU or PVC, it has many different textures and finishes, some cheap, some not, some shiny, some dull, a lot unbranded & not strength tested. This can confuse consumers, and I find puts many riders off “synthetic tack”, as they automatically think of synthetic tack as “shiny, plastic and cheap” - I can assure you, those of us who actually manufacture horse tack using genuine BioThane®️ cannot make things “cheap”, as the cost of Genuine BioThane®️ is anything but, and that shows in the quality of the actual strapping & end consumer product. 9 times out of 10, if you see cheap PVC products advertised, I can guarantee that it is NOT BioThane®️
I have had many customers call into my workshop recently to sample the BioThane®️ first hand, even at some Bridles fittings I have been out to, and they have commented on how much they can’t get over the quality and feel. It really is something else.
Beta®️ BioThane®️ is actually a fully Trademarked Brand and is far superior to any other synthetic strapping on the market. BioThane® is manufactured in their one and only plant located in North Ridgeville, Ohio in the USA, which first opened its door in 1977, manufacturing for various industries including equine, medical, sporting goods, canine, safety, and military - making them the Number 1. leader in synthetic strapping.
Now, let’s Talk about Beta®️ BioThane®️
Beta®️ is one of 19 different Trademarked coated materials, within the BioThane®️ Webbing Corp, which is the closest thing to leather. It has a Matte finish, is incredibly soft to the touch, fully waterproof, durable, and flexible. It is stink proof, doesn’t go mouldy, and stays supple even in the coldest of weather. Beta®️ is low maintenance, can be hosed down, or for those inclined can even be washed in the dishwasher or washing machine. It comes in a multitude of colours, with many shades of traditional colours to match traditional leather gear, making it difficult to spot the difference to the naked eye.
I can talk about BioThane®️ as a Maker/ Manufacturer / Business Owner / Brad & Rider myself all day long, but people want to hear from riders like you, those that use it, those that now won’t turn back and use anything else - what do you love about BioThane®️🐎🌈
